Dr. Sam Mayhugh

CEO

Dr. Sam Mayhugh is an executive psychologist who recently retired from IBH, a behavioral healthcare company he founded over 30 years ago. His professional life has also been spent in private practice, in hospitals and outpatient offices.

Dr. Mayhugh graduated from Olivet Nazarene University and Purdue University. His PhD is from Indiana State University. He attended post-doctorate certificate programs at Harvard and Oxford Universities.

For seven years he served as Chief Clinical Services at the renowned Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, California. More recently, Dr. Sam was also Special Contractor for U.S. Department of Homeland Security. For seven years, he served on the Board of Directors of Victory Films, a Hollywood based film company producing “movies that inspire.” Currently, he is CEO of TGA Productions.

Sam has authored five works, including C.I.P. Counseling Interaction Profile (Association for Productive Teaching, 1969), co-authored the text, Managed Behavioral Health Care, an Industry Perspective, with Sharon A. Shueman, PhD and Warwick G. Troy, PhD, MPH, (Charles C. Thomas, Springfield, Illinois, 1994, Harold’s Story – A Journey of Uncommon Healing, (Trilogy Christian Publishers, 2019). Covid-19: Resources for Coping with the Pandemic and Beyond (WestBow Press Publishers, 2020). The Odyssey of King David: God’s Broken Vessel (WestBow Press Publishers, 2020).

Beyond his duties as an executive psychologist and President of IBH, Dr. Sam has assisted church leaders and directors throughout the United States, and supported missionaries and indigenous church leaders in Central and South America, and Africa.

In addition to sailing and an occasional spin around the formula car race track, one of the great joys of Dr. Sam’s life has been in opening up his home to old and new friends alike, many who have found rest and restoration there.
